Cherokee Tribe History

Today we will examine the Cherokee tribe. More specifically, The Cherokee are Native American people that originally lived in the American southwest. The Cherokee language is part of the Iroquoian language group.

By the 19th century, American settlers had classified the Cherokee of the Southeast as one of the "Five Civilized Tribes" in the region. They were agrarian, lived in permanent towns, and had begun to adopt some cultural and technological practices of the settlers. They also developed their own writing system.
